Inside the Hurricane: Face to Face with Nature’s Deadliest Storms By Pete Davies
Pete Davies has been complimented for taking this book into the eye of the storm,
literally. In 1999 Mr. Davies, along with scientists from the National Hurricane Service
in Miami explored the magnificence of Hurricane Season in the United States. He felt
compelled to write about it. The book illustrates the devastation caused by these
vast and increasingly dangerous storms both economically and in terms of human suffering.
You’ll be introduced to Hurricane Bret and Floyd, among others and you’ll see just
how disastrous these storms can be.
Storm of the Century: The Labor Hurricane of 1935 By Willie Drye This 488 page
book is an extraordinarily interesting mix of history, politics and science. Willie
Drye puts into words what the World War II veterans (who were working to build....)
and the citizen of the Florida Keys went through on that tragic Labor Day in 1935.
In all accounts the book is an accurate depiction of this historical hurricane.
